Guaranteed to be chill and with just a bit of cat chaos, these games are for when you need to decompress. Little to no reflexes are required, only some patience, a keen eye, and an appreciation for all things adorably feline.
So find a comfortable (sun) spot, sit back, relax, and try not to purr – I mean, snooze as you go through this list of 10 cozy games with cats:
Little Kitty, Big City
Available on PC (Windows, macOS); Consoles (Steam Deck, Switch 1/2, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S)
Help a young black cat get back to its high-rise home somewhere in Japan. But there’s no rush. I mean look at all these curious things and creatures around here, all the mischief you can cause. You are a cat, after all, chaos is in your nature!
Explore the city, make friends with stray cats and other animals, solve puzzling quests, eat fish, and collect and wear hats
With Matt Wood and Micah Breitweiser’s design and 3D animation and Riley Koenig’s jazz music score, this deserved its award for Debut Game in The Indie Game Awards 2024 and BAFTA nomination.
A Tower Full of Cats
Available on PC (Windows, macOS); Consoles (Steam Deck, Switch 1/2)
In this hidden-object puzzle, scan and scale a whole tower to find cats. But this isn’t just any tower full of cats, it’s a time-travelling laidback adventure that features historical eras centered on our feline friends.
Search, point and click hidden cats and tools. Like a Where’s Waldo/Wally picture book, but you’re looking for cheeky little cuties and adding some color to them too.
When it comes to cat-themed games, you can never go wrong with Devcats’ art style and all. This is part of their Full of Cats series, and if you like this you can also check out A Shelter Full of Cats.
Lots of Cats in Every Moment
Video: MELOVITY
Available on PC (Windows, macOS); Consoles (Steam Deck)
If you’re looking for more hidden-object puzzles (fitting word “looking”, innit?), then this game by MELOVITY ups the ante with a little romantic storytelling–don’t worry, the tag says “cozy”, so it’s a romcom and not a tragedy.
Scan each panel for more than 650 cats and 250 objects in this comic story. It’s a wholesome, interactive graphic novella. And it’s free-to-play!
The manga or manhwa art style and its funky synth music add to the romcom vibe MELOVITY was going for.
100 Cats In New York
Video: 100 Cats
Available on PC (Windows, macOS); Consoles (Steam Deck)
Start spreading the news, you’re leaving today.
You wanna be a part of it… 100 Cats New York!
Butchered Sinatra lyrics aside, this is another game that you’d want to add to your now-growing list of hidden-object puzzles.
Find a hundred cats and discover all their names! Customise settings to either day mode (black lines on white background) or night mode (white lines on black background). Optional timer mode is also included, if you’re up for a bit of a challenge and don’t want it to be too cozy.
This one is part of Loginovskikh and Telminov’s 100 Cats series. They also have other places you should also check out, like Berlin, London, Mexico, and Singapore. This one, however, is free!
Quilts and Cats of Calico
Available on PC (Windows, macOS); Consoles (Steam Deck, Switch 1/2, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S)
Know what else gives “cozy”? Quilt-making… for cats! Sure, this board-game-based puzzle requires some strategic planning, puzzle solving, and luck, but the validation you’ll get from cuddly cats is all worth it.
Make quilts out of fabric scraps by combining colors and patterns in this game by Monster Couch. Score points, sew on buttons, and attract adorable cats for completed quilt designs. There’s a limited undo button, in case you make a mistake on patterns and tiles. If you don’t opt for story mode, you can play solo, like playing solitaire, or with multiplayer (up to 4) for a bit of competitive fun.
You wouldn’t feel the pressure of competition though. Its warm visuals with matching soft acoustic guitar tracks by Pawel Górniak (composer of Wingspan) will make you want to curl up on your little spot too.
Cats Love Boxes
Available on PC (Windows, macOS); Consoles (Steam Deck, Switch)
Another one by Devcats, but this time it’s a precious, grid-based puzzle adventure of Fofiño and Lily. And, according to their website, these cats are the game designer and the (anti)social media head.
Help these little fluffers push boxes to their assigned spot, Sokoban-style. Unlock about 60+ levels and get sweet little rewards. If you make a mistake, you can undo movements. You can also opt for either solo or local co-op play.
With Devcats, we can gush about the art, design, and music. But it is important to know that they are an impressive team of “6 rescued cats makin’ biscuits and cat-themed games.”
Chonkers
Available on PC (Windows, macOS); Consoles (Steam Deck)
Chonk up all the kittens without worrying about any health risks or neighbour complaints (this is digital fun, after all). Solar Eclipse Games’ idle, creature-collecting clicker is purrrfect for anyone who wants to take care of a lot of cats.
Foster, play, collect and chonkify all the sweet little strays. Once they level up, they’ll be ready for a new family to adopt them. The money you earn from successful adoptions can be spent on items for decor and more cats to add to your collection.
Its pixel art and cat-collecting play remind us of the mobile game Neko Atsume, but with lo-fi music in the background.
Cat & Onion
Available on PC (Windows, macOS); Consoles (Steam Deck)
Not all orange cats are crazy. Some of them just want to smother butter all over themselves, slide through secret passageways and explore. Okay, at least the orange cat you play here does.
Go on a short, but sweet adventure as you talk with strange characters and wander through even stranger places. Climb, talk, slide, fly, smack things and obtain all the (sweetest) collectibles in this 2D platformer.
Like the pixelated art, the sound design is adorable. The characters all sound like they’re adults from a Charlie Brown cartoon, which is fitting because they are just as comical. And to add to the coziness of it all, Karl Zylinski (the developer)’s soft piano pieces playing in the background are so calming, you could almost purr.
Cat Around Us: Giant Cat
Available on Consoles (Steam Deck, Switch 1/2, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S)
If you favor a hidden-object puzzle with just a pop of color, then perhaps this interactive cat comic will suit you. Think Jack and the Beanstalk, but make the giant a big ol’ feline.
Scan and click puzzle pieces and find about 204 hidden cats as you read about the giant cat wreaking havoc in a village and the young witch that might save the day. Some fun jigsaw puzzles are also included for you to solve, and a unique photo mode to color in an image you like.
Apart from the occasional meow and pings for success, Kathrinna Rakhmavika (visual artist)’s story is narrated through visual art alone, without dialogue, and with your choice of color, too. The music also matches the cozy, cutesy vibe.
Supurr Cat Cafe: Sandwich Rush
Available on PC (Windows, macOS); Consoles (Steam Deck)
Is Supurr a play on “super” or “supper”? Either way, let the sandwich stacking commence in the cat cafe of your coziest daydreams!
Let your feline friends help you stack and serve sandwiches, and keep both your customers and your cats happy. The more upgrades (ingredients, decors and cat toys) and new cats you have in the cafe, the more you up your sandwich game.
You’ll find 2 Nerdy Nerds’ animation and music to fit right in the cozy category. With its pixel arcade art style and cheery music, I’m sure you won’t mind being the crazy cat lady here. You have a cafe to run after all.
And with this list, we hope you look like the cat that got the cream. Now, go make ‘em biscuits.
